Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 review
My verdictA 17-inch pigment printer for people who have an actual reason to print 17 x 22. It’s the newer pick of the two big ones on this site.

Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 in detail
Size is the first decision
Canon lists a maximum of 17 x 22 in, with paper sizes up to 17 x 25. The listing weight is about 83 pounds. This is a piece of furniture; it wants a sturdy table or its own stand, and two people for the unboxing.
Eleven pigment inks
The 11-ink pigment set plus Chroma Optimizer is aimed at a wide gamut and smooth, even gloss. Canon pairs it with its own print and layout software, and the listing highlights anti-clogging print-head technology, a real concern on a printer that might sit between exhibitions.
Rated 4.4 on 87 ratings when the data was pulled. That is a small sample for a printer this expensive, so read recent reviews on the listing before ordering.
When it beats the 13-inch pair
Only when you need the extra four inches. Below 13 x 19 the PRO-310 does the same job in a smaller box. If your largest prints are 16 x 20 or bigger, or you sell framed work, the PRO-1100 stops being an indulgence.
Before the box arrives
Plan the space first. At about 83 lb it needs a sturdy table or stand and a second person to lift it. Leave room in front for the output tray and behind for paper handling. It’s the one printer on this site where furniture is part of the purchase.
Reading an 87-rating sample
Eighty-seven ratings at 4.4 is encouraging and thin. Sort the listing by most recent and look for repeat complaints about clogging, shipping damage or software before you commit this much money.
The catches
- Weight and footprint.
- Cartridge outlay is large even if cost per print at big sizes is reasonable.
- Few reviews yet.

PRO-1100 vs Epson P900?
Both are 17-inch pigment printers. The PRO-1100 is newer and rated higher on the listings pulled here; the P900 has dedicated black nozzles and a Carbon Black mode. See the head-to-head page.
How big can it print?
17 x 22 in per Canon’s listing.
Can the PRO-1100 print small sizes?
Canon’s paper list includes 4 x 6, but nobody should buy a 17-inch printer for that.
