Canon PIXMA PRO-200S vs imagePROGRAF PRO-310
In shortThese two share a body. The listings give the same footprint and almost the same weight, so the whole decision sits inside the cartridges: dye in the PRO-200S, pigment plus a Chroma Optimizer in the PRO-310. (People also search this as PRO-310 vs PRO-200S; it’s the same comparison.)

Where they differ
Ink decides the paper you’ll enjoy
Edge: PIXMA PRO-200S
The PRO-200S’s eight dye inks give the punchiest color on glossy and luster paper. The PRO-310’s nine pigment inks and dedicated matte black look better on matte and fine-art stock and keep longer on a wall. If you print mostly glossy and don’t plan to sell, dye is the happier choice.
Maintenance features
Edge: imagePROGRAF PRO-310
Canon’s listing for the PRO-310 calls out an anti-clogging system and skew correction. The PRO-200S listing doesn’t. For someone who prints in bursts, that’s a point for the PRO-310.
What owners say
Edge: imagePROGRAF PRO-310
4.3 from 118 ratings for the PRO-310 against 4.1 from 249 for the PRO-200S on the day the data was pulled. Both samples are modest, so don’t over-read a 0.2 gap, but nothing here argues against the pigment printer.
Who should pick which
Pick the PIXMA PRO-200S if
You print glossy or luster paper, color is the main event, and you want the lower sticker price.
Pick the imagePROGRAF PRO-310 if
You print matte, fine-art or black-and-white, sell prints, or want them to last. It’s also the safer choice for long gaps between jobs.
The call
If a client or a gallery will ever see the print, I’d lean PRO-310. If the prints go in albums and frames at home, the PRO-200S is the cheaper way to get beautiful color.
